The Spanish furniture store that decorates the homes of the Prince and Princess of Wales and Albert of Monaco

We want to share with you this beautiful article about Muba, written by Carmen Duerto and published in El Debate. We are truly grateful for their interest in our story and the space given to us. Below, you will find the full article:

Royal Children's Furniture

What was originally called Muebles Barajas, forty-five years later became Muba Kids. A family business now led by the second generation. Carmen and Marta García-Bravo Barajas are in charge—the eldest focuses on international expansion from Vienna, while the youngest manages design and sales from the headquarters in Arganda del Rey.

Naturally, the big question arises: How does a small business from Madrid end up furnishing palaces across Europe? Carmen, from Vienna, shares the keys to their success.

Muba's CEO's home is a testament to their philosophy—open spaces, light colors, and a "less is more" approach, a very European style. This contrasts with the hoarded interiors of some Austrian palaces, which, interestingly, feature furniture crafted in Arganda.

– How did you go from Arganda to furnishing palaces and grand residences across Europe?

– My parents founded the company in 1976. When my sister and I took over, it coincided with my move to Austria. There, I applied my business expertise and opened new markets across Europe.

– I started by knocking on the doors of the finest furniture stores. We had to adapt to their philosophy—children in Europe play in their bedrooms, so we adjusted our designs, for example, by making beds taller to create play space underneath.

– Who were the first royal children to enjoy Spanish-made furniture?

– I believe the first were the children of the now Prince and Princess of Wales. They have furniture, bookshelves, and study tables made in Arganda del Rey. Everything is produced there, and we also send our own installation team. The product is entirely Spanish, except for the paint, which is Italian but mixed in Valencia.

– Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis aren't the only ones playing among Spanish-made furniture, are they?

– No, we've continued furnishing other homes and palaces across Europe. French and German aristocrats were among the first to trust us. Many prominent families have chosen our designs, but always through decorators and stores—we don't receive direct calls from palaces.

– Which other royal residences feature Muba furniture?

– Another notable example is the twin children of Prince Albert of Monaco. A member of the Monegasque palace staff visited the Parisian store where we sell our furniture. There, the princes’ decorator selected pieces, and we customized the beds and toy storage boxes with their names. We had to notify them before delivery due to protocol, but the furniture was made for their home in southern France, not their official Monaco residence.

– Do you customize them with crowns or royal symbols?

– No, our furniture is classic and tailor-made. What sets us apart is our color palette—we offer 20 shades, and personalization is achieved through color selection rather than heraldic symbols. However, we do engrave names upon request.

– And what about Madonna?

– Not her, but we did furnish the home of her ex-husband, British film director Guy Ritchie. Our London store contacted us with a "very special request"—furniture for the child of Ritchie's girlfriend. We provided everything needed for a child's bedroom in their English countryside home.
